CE Seagull Badalona is a pioneering women’s football club based in Badalona, Barcelona, and a historic reference in women’s football in Catalonia. Founded in 1993, it was the first exclusively women’s football club in Catalonia, created to offer a safe, empowering, and values-driven space for girls and women to play football. Today, the club supports players aged 6 to 35, operating regionally while building a strong community rooted in sport, education, and equality.

Soraya Chaoui López

Soraya Chaoui López is a Barcelona-based sports leader and the CEO of W Group, the first women-led sports group in Spain. A lifelong football enthusiast, she turned her personal experience of exclusion into purpose, committing her career to equality, empowerment, and structural change in women’s football. With a background in Primary Education and a UEFA A coaching license, Soraya blends pedagogy, leadership, and high-performance sport to professionalize the women’s game from the ground up.

Throughout her career, Soraya has held nearly every role within the football ecosystem—coach, analyst, coordinator, sporting director, general director, and president—giving her a rare, 360° understanding of the industry. She founded the Women’s Soccer School (WSS Barcelona) as a fully female-focused club designed around the real needs of women and girls. One of her most impactful achievements has been rescuing and stabilizing the oldest women’s football club in Spain, preserving its 31-year legacy and rebuilding its sporting and financial foundations.

Driven by resilience and vision, Soraya continues to challenge outdated structures while advocating for investment, representation, and leadership by former female athletes. She envisions a future where women lead the decision-making spaces of football and where dedicated infrastructures support female athletes holistically. Her long-term dream is to create the first women-only sports center, offering medical, psychological, educational, and performance support—cementing her role as a changemaker shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future for women’s football.

CE Seagull Badalona was founded in 1993 in Badalona with a bold vision: to create a women-only football club that offered a safe environment and strong personal and sporting education. The early years were marked by significant challenges, requiring resilience, commitment, and passion to sustain the project.

Today, the club is a consolidated reference in women’s football, with more than 200 players across youth and senior teams. The first team competes in Spanish Tercera RFEF, reflecting the club’s steady sporting growth and focus on grassroots development and coach education.

In the near future, CE Seagull Badalona aims to continue growing sustainably by increasing participation, strengthening its youth academy, and further professionalizing its coaching and sporting structure while consolidating its position in Tercera RFEF.

The long-term vision is to secure the club’s own sports facilities, ensuring stability and sustainable growth. Sportingly, the ultimate dream is to reach the Spanish First Division. Beyond competition, the club aspires to significantly expand participation and guarantee access to football for all girls, including those facing economic barriers, through scholarships and financial support.
