Associació Esportiva Ramassà
Using football to drive inclusion, equality, and global solidarity.
Associació Esportiva Ramassà
A.E. Ramassà combines football with solidarity, education, and development cooperation. Their key initiatives include an Inclusive Women’s Football Team for refugees and migrants in Barcelona, international cooperation projects in countries such as Gambia, Uganda, and Madagascar, and awareness and educational campaigns across schools and communities. They organize workshops, cultural exchanges, solidarity trips, equipment donations, and publish educational materials to raise awareness about global challenges and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Through collaboration with local and international partners, the club implements activities focused on sport, education, and solidarity. Their Inclusive Women’s Football Team supports refugee and migrant women through sport, while international missions deliver resources and training to underserved communities. Advocacy efforts raise awareness about SDGs and mobilize action.

Growth Roadmap
Tomorrow
The Goal
Looking forward, the project aims to expand its services by developing tailored vocational courses and strengthening ties with local companies to open more job opportunities. It plans to broaden its cultural and social integration offerings through events and networking spaces and to support participants with family responsibilities by introducing childcare during activities. Advocacy will also play a greater role—sharing participant stories to challenge stereotypes and elevate the visibility of migrant women in sport.
The long-term vision is to create a sustainable, replicable model where any refugee or migrant woman arriving in a new country can access safe, inclusive, and empowering football-based programs like this one. A.E. Ramassà dreams of a world where sport is used to build equality, dignity, and opportunity at scale—transforming not just lives, but systems, and showing that grassroots football can be a powerful global force for social justice and inclusion.
Today
The Beginnings
Today, the project supports more than 35 participants per season, offering much more than just football. Women now benefit from personalized training plans, cultural activities, emotional support, and job placement services. Collaborations with organizations like UNHCR Spain, CEAR, The Red Cross, and the Catalan Football Federation have strengthened its impact. Some participants are now training as referees and coaches, while others have secured stable jobs—demonstrating the real, lasting change the program is creating in their lives.
The Inclusive Women’s Football Team was launched in 2021 as a response to the growing number of refugee, asylum-seeking, and migrant women arriving in Catalonia. Recognizing the lack of inclusive sport-based programs, A.E. Ramassà created a safe, welcoming space where women could train, connect, build confidence, and access support. Weekly sessions were designed not only to play football but also to promote emotional well-being and foster social inclusion through sport as a tool for empowerment and transformation.
